Slip Stitch Crochet
Slip stitch Crochet: You won't believe it’s not knitted. Learn to crochet fingerless mittens using crochet stitches to make cables and ribbing that look and feel like knitting. The class is for confident beginner-advanced crocheters. Students should know how to make basic crochet stitches, can identify and count stitches and maintain a consistent tension.
Supply List:
Two skeins of yarn, one skein should be a light color and the second skein should be a contrasting mid-tone color. Either solids or variegated. Choose either fingering weight (2), sport weight(2-3) or DK weight (3). No novelty yarns. The class sample used Dream in Color Smooshy yarn. Wind into a ball before class.
Locking stitch markers (at least 15)
Yarn tapestry needle Crochet hook. Size 3mm-3.25mm for fingering weight yarn, 3.25mm-3.5mm for sport and 3.5mm-4mm for Dk weight. Try to select a hook with a pointy rather than a smooth tip point. I like Louet Kollage pointy crochet hooks.
A camera (a cell phone camera is great)
A notebook and pencil
Optional: additional lighting and magnification if needed.
Difficulty level: should be familiar with basic crochet stitches. Confident beginner-advanced crocheters.
