Intro to Boro Inspired Patchwork

Have you seen the beautiful Japanese art form of Boro and wanted to try it?

Enjoy a fun, creative class learning a new and relaxing craft with needle & thread. Learn the basics of Boro Stitching, its history, what it is today, as a precursor to learning visible and creative mending. Be inspired to make in class a design that will be part of a functional item. Suggestions for a project in class: the piece you design may be sewn onto a ready made tote bag, throw pillow, or make a small tablemat design.

Boro Inspired Patchwork will be constructed of cotton or Japanese woven fabric. You will cut various sizes of squares, rectangles, and even circles & triangles in class, instruction includes placement of the fabric (or patches!), securing your pieces, and then sewing the fabric with long stitches.
